I am a member of the McSparin family of Southern Illinois, a descendant of James McSparran, who emigrated to Gallatin (now Saline) County in Southern Illinois in 1819. My maternal lineage is from the Stevens family of Warwick, New York. With the exception of my maternal grandmother's and the McSparin lines, all of my American ancestry dates back to the 1600's.
Since joining ancestry.com in 2009, I have worked extensively on the genealogies of the McSparin and Stevens families. The purpose of this blog is to share some of what I've learned along the journey.
